Tokyo will host the 32th Summer Olympics in 2020. The main concept of the event is to be “compact”, and most facilities will be located in the central part of Tokyo. The athletes’ village will be located at the center of the planned layout of venues, and 90% of the venues will be within an eight-kilometer range.

The  first Tokyo Olympics was held in 1964. This was the first ever Olympics held in Asia. And for many Japanese, it was a symbol of the country’s re-development and acceptance as a member of the international community after its defeat in the Second World War.
