Otaku -people with obsessive interests in something-

Otaku is geek, nerd, or freak in English. The otaku hang out mostly in the Akihabara area of Tokyo or the Nipponbashi area of Osaka. There, you can see many electronic, comic and anime DVD shops. Most otaku are male. The otaku have their own culture, and people call the otaku in Akihabara “Akiba-kei“, or “Akihabarans“. Coffee shops called “costume cafés” are popular in Akihabara and Nipponbashi. In these cafes, waiters and waitresses dress as characters from comics or as people of certain occupations such as butlers or housemaids. Some otaku like to dress as anime characters themselves. Recently there has been an increasing number of cosplay (costume play) lovers worldwide, who dress up as characters of amine.
